The Artist
My name is Mark Whittaker, I am a professional pet portrait and wildlife artist.
From an early age I have always had an interest in drawing animals.
Originally starting in pencil pet portraits I soon discovered the pleasure of painting in pastels which I have been solely using for the past twenty years. I find pastels the best medium for portraying the realism and likeness that I aim to achieve in my commissioned portraits.
In 2013 I was contacted by International Artist Magazine who published a six page article on my pastel paintings featured in the Feb/March issue of the same year.
I am an entirely self taught artist whose original paintings are now hanging in private collections in the UK and as far afield as Canada, USA and Finland.
Painting portraits of pets is something that has given me many years of satisfaction and every new commission accepted I take with new enthusiasm and a new challenge.
